RPREDICTING THE FILTRATION PERFORMANCES OF ULTRAFILTRATION CERAMIC MEMBRANES BY STREAMING POTENTIALS MEASUREMENTS. APPLICATION TO REMOVAL OF SALTS IN LIQUID EFFLUENTS

2008
This paper reports the dynamic characterizations of a ZnAl 2 O 4 -TiO 2 (50/50) membrane deposited on a macroporous support prepared from Moroccan clay coated with a zirconia microfiltration interlayer. The water permeability of the membrane is 10.4 L/h.m 2 .bar, its thickness is less than 700 nm with an average pore diameter of 5 nm, and a cut-off about 4500 Da. The mechanism of the rejection with salts solutions of Na 2 HPO 4 , NaCH 3 COO and NaF by low ultrafiltration membrane depends at on the pH, on ionic strength of the solution; their interpretation needs to precise the exact speciation of the filtered species.
