New moving-bed cracking catalysts: Durabead 12 and Durabead 14

1987
A new moving-bed cracking catalyst, Durabead 12, has been developed and commercially evaluated. Relative to currently available REY cracking catalysts, Durabead 12 produces significantly more gasoline and distillate at the expense of coke and C/sub 4//sup -/ gas and shows excellent hydrothermal stability. Because of its improved performance, Durabead 12 is currently being used in all of Mobil's Thermofor Catalytic Cracking (TCC) units. Another new catalyst, Durabead 14, has been developed via the combination of ZSM-5 with Durabead 12. Laboratory evaluations of Durabead 14 show very favorable coke selectivity, octane and potential alkylate enhancement and no gasoline yield loss relative to conventional REY cracking catalysts.
