Role of Etiology Therapy in Management of Variceal Hemorrhage in Liver Cirrhosis

Variceal hemorrhage is a major complication of cirrhosis of various etiologies. The clinical management of variceal hemorrhage is pivotal in saving lives. The hemorrhage of varices may recur if portal hypertension persists. Thus, it is important to treat the underlying causes of cirrhosis. In the Asia-Pacific regions, chronic viral hepatitis, alcoholic liver disease, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease are the most common causes of cirrhosis and varices. The present chapter intends to discuss the clinical features of these disorders.
