Application and nursing care of peripherally inserted central catheter in patients with severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

2014
Objective To explore the application use and nursing care of peripherally inserted central catheter in patients with moderate severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and observe the effective methods of care. Methods In our hospital patients with severe COPD were selected as experimental subjects and divided into two groups, with 100 cases in each group, group A used PICC method, while a peripheral intravenous catheter was set to group B.Complications and the catheter time of the two groups were compared. Results The one-time puncture success rate was 90% in group A using PICC,with the average indwelling catheter operation time as (23.8 ± 6.6) min,one-time puncture success rate in group B was 92%,with average indwelling catheter operation time as (5.5 ± 2.8) min.The main complications included phlebitis, infection, catheter block and catheter drop.6 cases found with complications in group A,while it was 13 cases in group B.And the indwelling catheter time of group A was (12 ± 1.5) days, while it was (5 ± 1.0) days in group B.Conclusion PICC application in patients with severe COPD catheter has high success rate, which can effectively reduce the incidence of complications of the puncture, worthy of clinical application.
