Seismic analysis of the CFETR CS Model Coil

2020
Abstract The China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR) Central Solenoid (CS) Model Coil is being fabricated by the Institute of Plasma Physics Chinese Academy of Sciences, and will be cryogenically tested in 2021. In order to validate the structural integrity of the CS Model Coil under seismic loads, response spectrum (RS) and time history analyses have been carried out. This paper first introduces the manufacturing progress of the CS Model Coil and the structure of the CS Model Coil. Then, the RS analysis is perfomed with the complete-quadratic-combination (CQC) modal combination rule. Finally, time history analyses under the artificial Hefei wave and the modified El Centro wave are conducted. The seismic response of the CS Model Coil is described and the obtained maximum von-Mises stresses are respectively 30.9 MPa and 34.0 MPa for the RS and time history analysis. These stresses are mainly caused by the horizontal excitations, and are lower than the allowable stress limit.
