Comparing the Messages

2021
In this chapter I have taken objects characteristic of different areas of astronomical investigation and juxtaposed the results obtained using many of the different messengers described in the earlier chapter with brief commenaries. Most of the images are found earlier in the book, although I have added a few extras to widen the perspective further. The first object chosen is Jupiter, followed by the Sun, the Milky Way, a spectacular set of supernova remnants, and the Andromeda galaxy. The techniques featured include the visible, radio, near and far infrared, X-rays, gamma-rays and neutrinos.
