Diagnosis value of p-wave duration during treadmill testing in myocardial ischemia

2010
Objective:The aim of this study was to investigate the diagnosis value of the differences in p-wave duration (PWD) due to exercise-induced myocardial ischemia.Method:The CAD (Coronary Artery Disease) group consisted of 87 patients with coronary artery disease and a control group of 35 subjects, treadmill testing was performed in all of them.Signal-averaged P waves duration was measured before exercise and at 1 minutes into recovery, the change in p-wave duration (PWD) was calculated.Ananysis the the diagnosis value of the differences in p-wave duration (PWD) by ROC curve.Result:The mean PWD before exercise in the CAD group and control group was 92.89±10.21ms and 90.76±15.05 ms (P0.05),at the first minute of recovery it was 114.47±10.25 ms and 106.64±16.44ms respectively (P0.01).△PWD were found to be statistically significant (P0.01) in the CAD group when compared with control group.Cutoff value of △PWD was 19.5 ms set up by ROC curve, the sensitivity and specificity of △PWD was 74.5% and 84.8%.Conclusion:The increase in P-wave duration was used as an additional parameter to detecting exercise-induced myocardial ischemia, increased the value of treadmill testing.
