Mélilotus, un blog de patiente

2016
At the age of 39, I found myself with breast cancer during my pregnancy. From a medical point of view, I was taken in charge to perfection but this traumatic event was rendered all the more so because support was limited. Lack of information and testimonies on the Internet motivated me, while I was in remission, to fill this “blank. Hence in 2009, I created the blog “Melilotus and her breast cancer”. I approach my own experience and the impact of the disease on my personal, family, professional, and social life. In this article, I explain how this writing has been liberating with numerous repercussions: exchanges with other women with breast cancer, students, health professionals, associations, and journalists. I also speak of my breast reconstruction and of the necessity to provide patients with better information. My commitment has taken unexpected paths and led me to a real empowerment allowing me to leave behind the simple status of patient.
