Pharmacokinetics and dosage recommendations of teicoplanin in patients treated by continuous veno-venous haemodialysis (CVVHD)

1994
Teicoplanin is a glycopeptide antibiotic which is active against gram-positive aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. The pharmacokinetics of teicoplanin after intravenous administration follow an open three-compartmen t linear model (3-CM), also in patients with diminished renal function, on chronic haemodialysis (HD) or undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) [1, 3]. Multiple-dose pharmacokinetics in patients with renal dysfunction have been studied in chronic HD patients [2, 3]. We wish to report here the pharmacokinetics of teicoplanin after multiple doses in patients with acute renal failure (ARF) undergoing continous veno-venous haemodialysis (CVVHD).
