Purpose Tobacco smoke exposure (TSE) causes significant health risks to children. Pediatricians should address TSE with patients and families, but may not be effectively trained to do so. A 2011 survey of pediatric residency Program Directors (PDs) found that only 65% of those surveyed included tobacco prevention in their curricula, and the majority of curricula had little emphasis on interactive or experiential learning.
