Lung Health Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in Queensland.

*This report is free to read on the publisher's website* This publication reports on a project conducted by the Queensland Statewide Respiratory Clinical Network which addressed the limited information relating to lung health among Indigenous people in Queensland and the availability of health services and resources to prevent, intervene and control chronic lung disease. The project consisted of; literature reviews, the analysis of morbidity and mortality data, a survey of health service providers and interviews with hospital health professionals, Aboriginal community controlled health organisations and other key stakeholders. The project found that Indigenous people from Queensland experience significant disadvantage and the health services available do not meet needs, the identification of Indigenous people is poor, the health workforce does not have adequate Indigenous representation, health services are under-resourced and culturally appropriate services are limited in many areas of Queensland. The recommendations generated from the project apply to a broad range of stakeholders.
