The epidemiology of battlefield traumas and deaths and the origins of TCCC guidelines

The authors have presented the epidemiology of traumas and deaths on battlefield as well as characterised the preventable deaths and discussed the actions planned to limit the number of deaths within the TCCC guidelines. The authors have emphasised that around 60% of potentially preventable deaths on battlefields are caused by massive extremity haemorrhages. The pathophysiology and symptoms of hypovolemic shock have been presented.
