Using Informatics to Improve Identification and Communication of Incidental Findings in the Emergency Department

Abstract To provide a diagnosis, patients in the emergency department receive many imaging studies. Advancements in imaging have increased the number of identified incidental findings. Owing to the complexity of emergency care, notification and follow-up are inconsistent. Informatics may improve notification and follow-up of incidental findings and improve health outcomes.
