p, TIPS dysfunction was observed in two patients: in one, ith recurrent features of intestinal ischaemia, the shunt was orrected with an additional stent. In the other one, with recurent variceal bleeding, a spleno-renal shunt was performed. ne patient developed two episodes of hepatic encephalopahy few days after the procedure. One patient died after nine onths for hepatocellular carcinoma. onclusions. TIPS is technically feasible in the majority of atients with chronic portal vein thrombosis and portal caveroma and may be considered among the therapeutic options f this infrequent cause of portal hypertension.
