Comment on {open_quote}{open_quote}Semileptonic meson decays in the quark model: An update{close_quote}{close_quote}

1996
The usefulness of this quark model is uncertain because it seriously underestimates the transition rate to excited states in semileptonic {ital B} decays. The Isgur-Wise form factor which fits experiment suppresses the decay rate to {ital D} plus {ital D}{asterisk} by about 40{percent} but only about 7{percent} out of 40{percent} is restored via decays to excited states. Experiment and a heavy-quark theory analysis by Falk, Luke, and Savage suggest that much more should show up in excited states. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
