Incidence of nosocomial infections in a tumor hospital in 2011

OBJECTIVE To provide the scientific foundation for preventing and controlling nosocomial infections by investigating the incidence of nosocomial infections and the use of antibacterial agents in a tumor hospital.METHODS A cross-sectional survey was conducted,the full-time staff of the infection control branch assisted by the members of the infection control team in the clinical departments investigated all the hospitalized patients on the survey day by the bedside investigation combined with the review of medical records,and the results were statistically analyzed.RESULTS Of totally 836cases of hospitalized patients actually investigated,the nosocomial infections occurred in 8case-times of patients with the incidence rate of 0.96%;the lower respiratory tract infections accounted for 50.0%,followed by the abdominal and pelvic tissue infections(25.0%),pleural space infections(12.5%),and eye,ear,and oral cavity infections(12.5%);the utilization rate of antibiotics was 16.7%,the one-drug medication accounted for 49.29%,two-drug medication 50.00%,and three-drug medication 0.71%.CONCLUSION The investigation of prevalence of nosocomial infections is simple and reliable and can reflect the actual incidence of nosocomial infections and the use of antibiotics,which provides scientific basis for developing the measures of control of nosocomial infections.
