POM@surf(n)/CeO2 electrospun nanofibers for the facile oxidation of 5-HMF to DFF
2019
Abstract CeO 2 electrospun nanofibers were decorated with a -NH-(CH 2 ) n -NH 2 + -CH 2 (CH 2 ) 8 CH 3 then followed by embedding of polyoxometalate H 5 PMo 10 V 2 O 40 to give HPMoV@surf(n)/CeO 2 nanofiber hybrids (where n = 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10). Such designation confirmed no leaching of HPMoV from CeO 2 support, interacting between Ce and V in HPMoV to promote the electron transferring, hydrophobicity of the surface resistant to surrounding changes, and the multifunctional sites of redox, base, and Lewis acid favoring for aerobic oxidation. As results, HPMoV@surf(n)/CeO 2 presented a high efficiency for aerobic oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) targetting to 2,5-diformylfuran (DFF) with almost 100 % conversion and 95.3 % yield. No structural and morphologic changes or leaching of POMs from CeO 2 electrospun nanofiber occurred during the reaction which could be recycled up to ten-times.
