Effects of rosiglitazone on the expression of perilipin mRNA in adipose tissue of obese diabetic mice

2011
Objective To observe the effects of rosiglitazone on the expression of perilipin mRNA in adipose tissue of obese diabetic mice. Methods 36 male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into control (NC) group, diabetes mellitus (DM) group, and rosiglitazone intervention (RGZ) group. Then obese and diabetic mice model were established, and the expression levels of perilipin mRNA were detected by RT-PCR. Results The expression of perilipin mRNA in adipose tissue of mice was lower in DM group than in NC group [(0. 48 ± 0. 12) vs (1. 08 ± 0. 09) , P0. 01] and was higher in RGZ group than in DM group [(0. 81 ± 0. 10) vs (0. 48 ± 0. 12) ,P0. 01]. Conclusions PPARγ agonist rosiglitazone may up-regulate the gene expression of perilipin in adipose tissue of obese diabetic mice, regulate lipid metabolism and improve insulin resistance.
