Evaluation of left and right ventricular function by tissue Doppler imaging in healthy obese women

2008
Objective To investigate tissue Doppler imaging(TDI) assessing left and right ventricular function in healthy obese women. Methods 140 healthy obese people underwent DTI,among them 80 women.Peak systolic and peak early and late diastolic velocities (Sm,Em,Am) and Em/Am were measured at mitral and tricuspid annular, and mean value of every index (MSm,MEm,MAm and MEm/Am) was calculated. Results Sm,Em,Em/Am and MSm,MEm,MEm/Am at different sites of mitral annular and tricuspid annular were significantly different in obese and healthy women.reduced and Am and MAm increased at every site in obese group as compared with controll group. With body mass increasing, cardiac function of obese women reduced more obviously.Compared with obese men, obese women had lower cardiac function. Conclusions By measuring myocardial tissue velocities using TDI,left and right ventricular function has become abnormal in healthy obese women.TDI provides an ideal method to evaluate left and right ventricular local and general function early in obese women.
