Rehabilitation of the burnt hand in the acute phase

2011
Whatever the age of the subject or the causative agent, the commonest burns are those of the hand. Their potential consequences, which are both functional and cos- metic, are much feared and require early multidisciplinary management in an acute burns treatment centre. Rehabilita- tion is of great importance. It follows well-established princi- ples whose application must recognise the constraints, which sometimes derive from the threat to life, surgical necessities, the means available and the intensive care environment.
