THE VASCO DE GAMA BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER TAGUS IN LISBON

A brief description of the Vasco de Gama Bridge over the Tagus is presented. The main geological and geotechnical conditions based on site investigation programs are described. The liquefaction potential evaluation was performed by field tests. For the computation of shear stresses both total stress model and effective stress model were used. The pile load tests (both static and dynamic) carried out on trial piles are described.
