The large part of the Caspian Sea in structural -tectonic attitude is connected with platform areas. Traditionally in this region there are distinguished three main geostructural elements: East-European precambrian platform, Epipaleozoic Scythian-Turanian plats and Tersko-Caspian foredeep.
