Epigenome-wide Association Study Identifies a Novel DNA Methylation in Patients With Severe Aortic Valve Stenosis

: Aortic valve stenosis (AS) is the most common valvular heart disease in the aging population, and it is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. A recent report has demonstrated that DNA methylation involves heritable but reversible methylation or demethylation of nucleotides and plays an important role in gene and RNA transcriptional regulation in cardiovascular diseases. We performed an epigenome-wide association study (EWAS) of patients with AS and controls to identify AS-specific alterations in DNA methylation in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs).
