Monitoring the Effects of the Pipe Insertion Machine Technique

1988
The results of an experimental study of the pipe insertion machine are presented in this paper. Strains induced in an adjacent pipeline, soil displacement, pipe deflection and vibrations were monitored. The results are comparable to those obtained by similar tests in England. Strains and soil displacement were not significant under these field conditions, but vibrations may be a serious concern for some specific types of older structures.
