A Data Management System as an Adjunct to the Treatment of Patients with Hypertension

1984
The management of patients with high blood pressure (or hypertension) requires a stringent follow-up and this generates an abundancy of data. For this purpose computer systems might prove to be useful. In our institute the clinical research data management system ADAMO was developed some time ago . It was investigated whether this system could also be used as a hypertension data management system. From a pilot study it was apparent, that various utility programs should have to be developed for this purpose. The general conclusion, however, was that ADAMO could be used successfully for this purpose. This paper describes the hypertension management system and the functions it supports currently. In the next paragraph a short introduction to ADAMO will be presented. Thereafter the additional functions, created for the hypertension management system will be discussed.
