Guidelines and recommendations for the performance of first-trimester ultrasound have been developed and published by several societies and organizations, and many have published collaborative guidelines. Key components of these guidelines include equipment, indications, timing, content of the examination, documentation, and training. This chapter summarizes the key components of the various first-trimester ultrasound guidelines and recommendations, as well as their pertinent differences.
