Stroke, Premorbid Status and Resilience

2019
Stroke is one of the common causes of disability in the older adults. Proactive management of vascular risk factors like HTN, DM and CAD are important determinants, but functional resilience matters the most after an episode of stroke. This chapter explains the case history of two patients from almost similar socio-economic background, who suffered massive strokes which compromised the circulation of dominant hemisphere. Both the patients had similar premorbid health conditions, family support and financial security.
