Room temperature deposition of tunable plasmonic nanostructures by atmospheric pressure jet plasma

2012
Aerosol assisted atmospheric pressure plasma based room temperature deposition and patterning of metal nanostructures using a colloidal gold precursor are presented. The distribution and monodispersity of the deposited nanoparticles were evident from the scanning electron microscopic image and UV-Vis absorbance band. Micropatterning of highly monodispersed metal nanoparticles is also demonstrated. It is observed that by varying the plasma process parameters the density of packing of gold nanoparticles could be varied significantly and hence the plasmonic band could be tailored.
