Vascular disease prevention and screening in women

Abstract We will describe the prevention and screening recommendations from the US Preventive Task Force (USPTF), which are related to cardiovascular disease in women. Four main recommendations for preventive treatments from the USPTF are reviewed, including statin therapy, aspirin therapy, tobacco cessation, and vitamin supplementation. Similarly, we outline the screening recommendations put forth by the USPTF, including screening for abdominal aortic aneurysm. Future research to encourage the use of preventive therapies and appropriate screening tests are necessary to ensure high-quality vascular care for women.
