Advances on the Study of antimicrobial peptides

Antimicrobial peptide is a kind of polypeptide which has specific immunity against bacteria,fungi,virus,parasites and tumor cells. It possesses specific characters,such as broad-spectrum antibiotic and heat-durability,which makes it have a promising future and have attracted great attention. The antimicrobial peptides are expected to become a substitute for antibiotics. This paper briefly introduces the character,categories and action mechanism of antimicrobial peptides,and it discusses its current application and existing problems.
