The changes of nitric oxide in cerebrospinal fluid and clinial significance in patients with viral encephalitis and virus meningitis

2003
Objectives To investigate the clinical significance of the changes of nitric oxide(NO) in cerebrospinal fluid(CSF).Methods The levels of NO in 27 patients CSF and 15 controls CSF were determined according to the instructive manual attached to respective kit. Results The NO levels of CSF were obviously increased in the patients group with viral encephalitis and virus meningitis comopared with the control group, and obvious difference between infront therapy and end therapy. Conclusions There indeed exist NO in inflammatory pathological process central nervous system.Determination of NO level of CSF would help to diagnosis the viral encephalitis and virus meningitis.
