Maternal alcohol ingestion and neural tube defects: observation of four brothers in a family.

The authors report the observation of four brothers with myelomeningoceles, sons of an alcoholic mother. The typical signs of the alcohol fetal syndrome was seen in only one of them. The chronic alcoholism of the mother was the only known teratogenic factor during the four pregnancies.
