The Safe Ride for Children with Disabilities – Parental Guidance through a Handbook

2004
The transport mobility of children with disabilities is of vital interest for the individual, as well as for society. However, previous research have shown that both safety and mobility is reduced for children with disabilities, due to several factors, one of them being lack of information concerning safety measurements to be taken. To facilitate traveling for children with disabilities, a handbook was created. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the handbook from a user perspective. The results from the 436 respondents of a questionnaire showed that most parents thought the handbook was useful, and were also willing to pay a minor price for it. Retrieving it from the Internet for free was, however, not favored.
