Critically ill infants are often transferred to a referral hospital after they are assessed and stabilised by their local emergency department. The ideal composition and training of transport teams remains unclear. Transport generalists may be more available, but clinical complications during transfers can increase. Meanwhile, using specialist paediatric teams can significantly reduce adverse incidents and deaths.
