Ciclosporin treatment for severe ulcerative colitis in pregnancy

We describe a patient, presenting in the 1 st trimester of pregnancy, with severe ulcerative colitis (UC) which failed to respond to oral and subsequently intravenous steroids. The use of intravenous ciclosporin resulted in disease remission and a healthy baby girl was delivered at 34 weeks of pregnancy.
