The treatment of lacerations

1992
Abstract The majority of wounds in children presenting to an accident and emergency department are relatively minor, nonetheless inappropriate management can lead to unnecessary debility, cosmetic deficit or chronic disability. Proper wound assessment for injury to deeper structures or contamination by foreign material (including bacteria) may prevent complications. Consideration should also be given to whether one is dealing with an accidental injury or child abuse, although non-accidental injury more often presents with other forms of injury.
