On the shape of a neutron beam produced by means of the T(d,n)4He reaction using a thick target and the associated-particle method

Abstract The shape of a neutron beam produced by means of the T(d,n) 4 He reaction is analyzed. Taking into account the degradation of the incident deuterons in the target material and the finite aperture of the α-particle detector, the evaluation of the energy spread of the neutron beam, associated with the α-particles, is carried out. The results of a numerical calculation are compared with experimental data.
