Clinical Species Distribution and Drug Resistance of 158 Isolates of Enterococcus

2010
OBJECTIVE To study the clinical species distribution and drug resistance of Enterococcus,so as to provide guidance to use antibiotics rationally in clinical therapy.METHODS Totally 158 isolates of Enterococcus were collected by cultured in normal methods in hospital from Apr to Jun 2009,and the characteristics of species distribution and drug sensibility were analyzed.RESULTS There were 61 E.faecalis(38.6%),40 E.faecium(25.3%),28 E.gallinarum(17.7%),27 E.casselifavus and 2 E.avium(1.3%) strains. There were 71 Enerococcus strains(44.9%)isolated from urine and 48 strains(30.4%) from sputa. The drug resistance rate of Enterococcus to tetracycline, rifampin, moxifloxacin, levofloxacin, and gentamicin were more than 60.0%.In this study,2 strains of vancomycin resistant Enterococcus were found, while no linezolid resistant Enterococcus strain was isolated.CONCLUSIONS The urinary and the respiratory system are infected frequently by Enterococcus;E.faecalis and E.faecium are the main strains, the proportion of E.casselifavus and E.avium is increasing now.Enterococcus infection in hospitals is increasing year by year;the resistance rate of Enterococcus keeps on rising, and the pan-resistant strains are gradually increasing.
