Factores sociodemográficos y clínicos asociados al control de la tensión arterial en pacientes hipertensos de un programa de crónicos en Boyacá, 2017

Introduction: Hypertension is a cardiovascular disease that affects millions of people, leading to complications such as heart attacks and strokes, so it has been necessary to carry out activities aimed at reducing in this population mortality and disability related to complications of this disease. Objective: To Describe the demographic and clinical factors associated with the control of blood pressure in hypertensive patients of a chronic program in Boyaca in the year 2017. Methodology: Observational cross-sectional study with analytical phase, in which 238 patients participated who met the selection criteria. Sociodemographic and clinical variables were investigated, identifying initial relationships with the control of blood pressure figures. Results: The majority of the participants are of female sex (n:195; 81.9%), being 68 years the median of their age, having the majority an abdominal perimeter greater than the normal values (n:146; 61.3%), in addition to reporting the timely assistance to their controls with medical internist (n:157; 66.0%), and having controlled blood pressure (n:177; 74.4%). Inadequate control of blood pressure showed statistically significant association with the variables abdominal perimeter (p = 0,021), weight (p = 0,045) and glycemia (P = 0,021). Conclusion: In the control of the blood pressure of the participant’s influence factors related to the lifestyle, the feeding and the taking of medicines. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the health education processes and to make effective follow-up to this population against the management of these factors.
