Rolling effect on serrated flow in an Al-Li-Cu-Mg alloy plate

2015
The occurrence of serrated flow has been studied experimentally in a commercial aluminium Al-Li-Cu-Mg alloy (8090). A 12-mm thick rolled plate with marked textures, with difference between the surface layer and the core, was chosen to obtain some insight into the effect of texture on serrated flow. Tension tests have shown that the serrations are more intense in the core than in the surface layer. Microstructural investigations were performed to explain this behavior.
