Maskenoptimierung im Rahmen von Kontrolluntersuchungen

2008
The acceptance of positive airway pressure therapy depends on the adequate selection of the pressure and good adaptation of an appropriate mask. Most often a nasal mask is preferred. Oronasal and oral masks as well as nasal pillows represent good alternatives to nasal masks. The presented studies which partly examine a change from one mask type to another show in only one study an evidence level of 1b. The other protocols often concern case control studies. If during check-ups a poor acceptance of the mask is realized, an individual selection and accommodation will become necessary. Long-term follow-up, application of questionnaires concerning long-term acceptance, and standards for prognostic criteria are lacking so far.
