ALK rearrangement in a gastrointestinal stromal tumor of the small bowel

2020
: The most common drivers of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are oncogenic activating mutations in KIT (75%) or PDGFRA (10%) [1]; 5% of GISTs are succinate dehydrogenase (SDH)-deficient, secondary to either SDHx mutations or SDHC promoter hypermethylation [2]. Rare GISTs have alternate drivers, including BRAF, RAS, or NF1 mutations, or NTRK3 or FGFR1 fusions. Here we report the first case of GIST with an ALK gene rearrangement.
