2013
Objective To investigate licensed nurses' cognition and health education level of obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).Methods Authorized translation of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome knowledge and attitude questionnaire (OSAKA) was used to investigate 336 nurses in 25 public hospitals who were engaged in respiratory clinical nursing by letters or emails. Results Totals of 317 out of 336 questionnaires were recovered with the rate of 94.35%,in which 304 were effective with the rate of 90.48%.The score of cause of disease and pathogenesis, diagnostic knowledge of OSAHS,epidemiological knowledge, clinical manifestation and complications of OSAHS and related treatment knowledge of OSAHS was respectively (0.91 ±0.33),(0.76 ±0.43),(0.74 ±0.27),(0.71 ±0.52) and (0.53 ±0.76).More than 92.11% nurses thought OSAHS was significant as a kind of clinical disease,93.40% recognized the importance of CPAP,36.18% were confident to face OSAHS patients and provided health guidance,36.19% were confident to deal with common problems in CPAP nursing,30.59% believed they could help OSAHS patients to accept CPAP,and only 1% could provide comprehensive health education for every patient. There was no statistically significantdifference of OSAKA score between nurses of different ages, education degrees, nursing ages and professional titles (P > 0.05).Conclusions Respiratory nurses have certain understanding of the importance of OSAHS,but remain to be improved in related knowledge and ability to provide health education.Further education, training and learning should be provided to improve their cognition of OSAHS,which is the key to improve their nursing ability and health education level of OSAHS.
