Micron system for automation and analysis of measurements in a nuclear photoemulsion

1988
An automated system for performing measurements and processing and analysis of events in a nuclear photoemulsion is described. A block diagram of the apparatus, a packet of programs for searching for neutrino interactions in a nuclear photoemulsion, and constructions of target diagrams in x-ray emulsion cameras as well as the results of controlled measurements are presented. The creation of a charmed ..lambda../sub c//sup +/ baryon followed by decay into sigma plus, pion plus, and pion minus particles observed in the nuclear photoemulsion is described. Measurements on the system showed that linking the microscope with a computer substantially reduced the search time required for neutrino interactions in a nuclear emulsion.
