Opóźnienia przed- i wewnątrzszpitalne w udarze mózgu: przyczyny, skutki, zapobieganie

Stroke is a common cause of death and permanent disability in adults. Effective treatments with thrombolytic therapy involving pharmacological vessel recanalization or mechanical thrombectomy are only possible in the first few hours after stroke onset. Therefore, the key factors limiting the use of thrombolytic therapy are delays that occur at the stage of pre-hospital care and emergency department procedures. This article summarise the main backgrounds, results and ways to prevent delays in treatment of acute phase of stroke with particular emphasis on the important role of the family doctor this respect.
