Building a new health education model to adapt to elderly patients' demands

Objective To build a new health education model in order to meet the elderly patients' demands.Methods In this study,348 inpatients from January to December 2010 were considered as experimental group,and they received a new health education model,the measures included contextualized health education content,time-segmented pattern and hierarchical implementation;322 inpatients from January to December 2009 were considered as control group,and they received oral health education by using health education material.A questionnaire was used to evaluate the effect of health education. Results The experimental group was better in the service rate of health education,knowledge rate of the patients,therapy compliance and patients' satisfaction than the control group(P0.05).Conclusion The new health education model can meet the elderly patients' needs and improve the effect of health education and therapy compliance.
