Inferior genicular artery percutaneous transluminal angioplasty in diabetic patients with severe peripheral vascular lesion

2008
Objective To observe the short-term therapeutic results of inferior genicular artery percutaneous transluminal angioplasty(PTA)in diabetic patients with severe peripheral vascular lesion, and to evaluate the preliminary clinical significance. Methods From October,2006 to August 2007,consecutive 29 diabetic patients with severe peripheral vascular lesion underwent inferior genicular artery PTA treatment with INVATEC-DEEP balloon. The symptoms,signs,ABI,TcPO2 were observed pre and post treatment and follow up.Results In all 29 patients(29 limbs),the success rate of treatment procedure was 62.1%.All cases were followed up to 6 months. After 6 months, the survival rate of the patients who underwent successful operation was 88.9% and the limb survival rate was 83.3%.Meanwhile,the patients without successful operation had 72.7% survival rate and the limb survival rate was 27.3%,there were significant differences(P0.05).Conclusion For diabetic patients with severe peripheral vascular lesion, inferior genicular artery PTA had a certain successful rate, which could improve limb salvage rates and lower mortality rates.
