Multidisciplinary Approach to Noninvasive Ventilation (NIV) in Critical Care
2020
Noninvasive ventilation (NIV) has always required several healthcare disciplines for optimal delivery and this multidisciplinary effort is essential for optimal outcomes. This involved three primary groups of providers: physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists (physiotherapists in some countries). NIV is considered a first-line intervention, especially for those with hypercapnic respiratory failure, and its success depends on the multidisciplinary cooperation between all three disciplines.
