An Imaging System For Melanoma Evaluation

1990
A system is being developed to aid physicians in determining whether a nevus is malignant or not. A camera is used to capture an image of a nevus into a computer. Then the computer will run a series of programs to isolate the nevus from the surrounding skin. The size and color of the nevus is determined. These readings are then compared with previous measurements of the nevus. The comparisons are then presented to the physician so that the malignancy of the nevus can be determined.
