Evaluation of Sediment Transport in Sewers Using the EPR-MOGA-XL:

2018
Sediment transport is an important part of sewer systems design. There are several equations that define the minimum self-cleansing velocity to ensure an optimal particle transport under different conditions (e.g. bed load, suspended load, cohesive sediments, among others). The aim of this work is to determine a new self-cleansing equations using the EPR-MOGA-XL Tool, which relates hydraulic parameters (e.g. hydraulic radius) with sediment transport capacity under bed load conditions. A set of 271 experimental data collected in literature is used to implement the model. The results are compared and validated with typical self-cleansing equations and other experimental data found in literature. High level fittings were achieved, indicating a high correlation between observed (experimental) data and modeled with the new equations.
